Jewelry Redesign
What Is Jewelry Redesign?
Jewelry redesign is the process of transforming existing jewelry into a new custom piece. This may involve:
- Combining multiple pieces into one design or vice versa
- Modernizing an outdated style
-
Repairing and enhancing heirloom pieces
It’s sustainability, sentiment, and style — all wrapped into one thoughtful process.
Why People Choose to Redesign Jewelry
1. Heirloom Transformation
Family jewelry often carries deep emotional meaning but may not match your personal style. Instead of keeping Grandma’s pearls tucked away, redesign allows you to wear them proudly every day.
For example, a Victorian-style setting might be reimagined into a sleek, minimalist necklace — preserving the pearl while updating the aesthetic.
2. Life Changes
Jewelry redesign is also common after significant life transitions:
- Celebrating milestones
- New family members
- Anniversary upgrades
-
Inheriting estate jewelry
3. Sustainable Luxury
In an era where sustainability matters, redesigning jewelry is an eco-conscious alternative to buying new. By reusing existing metals and gemstones, you reduce the demand for newly mined/farmed materials.
The Jewelry Redesign Process
Each piece is unique, and deserves its own thoughtfully planned process. :
1. Consultation
You send in pictures of your existing pieces and share your vision (turning a necklace into two bracelets, redesigning a bracelet into drop earrings, etc.). Be sure to point out any troublesome areas or spots in need of repair.
2. Quote
I’ll provide a quote to make your vision a reality. Please let me know if you have any special instructions such as mail carrier or insurance preferences. No deposit is required - payment can be sent after you see and approve of the redesigned piece.
4. Creation
Your piece will receive the utmost care during the production process, which will usually be between 1 - 5 business days, depending on the complexity of the project.
5. Final Reveal
The emotional moment — seeing a treasured memory reborn.
What Can Be Redesigned?
- Necklaces
- Earrings
-
Bracelets
Is Jewelry Redesign Worth It?
Often, yes — especially when:
- You want something truly one-of-a-kind
- The piece has sentimental value
-
The cost of redesign is lower than buying new
However, not all pieces are ideal for redesign. Some antique settings may hold more value intact, particularly pieces tied to recognized design movements such as Art Deco or Edwardian eras. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you’re not sure whether to preserve or redesign. I will be happy to offer my honest opinion.
